Reggie means well but peeps have bigger, personal concerns!

NFL stud Reggie Bush was on twitter yesterday attemping to educate fans (those who care) about the apparent impending NFL lockout in 2011. See story…
Saying that he’s not trying to garner support, sorrow or pity just make fans more knowledgable about the issues surrounding a possible lockout, Bush tried to explain that NFL owners are spearheading the possible work impasse, that it’s not a “strike”…imposed by the players. Reggie also pointed out that not every player in the NFL makes millions…that it’s only a small percentage that actually do.
The Saints RB also raised the issue of healthcare in the NFL and that as of March 2011, not a single NFL player will have healthcare insurance. Healthcare obviously is a major concern for NFL players with the high volume of possible injury in the sport.
Kudos to Reggie for trying to inform fans about the issues facing NFL players and management in regards to a possible work stoppage in 2011. I’m sure Reggie and all the players’ concerns are well warranted but to the general public who are in the midst of a major recession, I doubt if many will care.
The NFL players and owners are operating from within a sports utopia. Despite their grievances, they all make a pretty good living. The league is making major green. Their issues simply pale in comparison to the economic issues facing millions of Americans right now. They can find a way to work out their differences and everybody still benefits. But who is gonna fix the economy and put Americans back to work?
Reggie…not to belittle your industry or grievances but I’m afraid the NFL’s labor concerns will fall on deaf, unemployed ears.
