RON ARTEST TO AUCTION OFF HIS CHAMPIONSHIP RING!!

Ron Ron is either mental…selfless…generous or simply all of the above!

Ron Artest is mental…for real! The Los Angeles Lakers’ forward plans on selling his long-sought championship ring once he receives it during the Lakers’ opening night ring ceremony this fall!

Artest, who thanked his psychiatrist in the aftermath of the Lakers’ Game 7 triumph, said it was great to finally achieve his goal of winning a title but believes doing something significant for the psych community is of greater value.

Ron Ron plans to auction off his championship ring to raise funds to put more psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists in schools.

“You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself,” Artest said. “What’s better than that? For me, this is very important.”

Receiving a championship ring is a proud honor that serves as reward for achieving the ultimate goal in sport but Artest won’t even indulge in the honor.

“I’m never going to put it on,” he said.

Quite a selfless act on dude’s part to auction such a coveted commodity among athletes, many of whom never get to own one. And he’s not even gonna try it on!

But I imagine Ron feels the ring is just a symbol of being a champion and in his heart, he knows he will always be one. Nothing will ever take that way. To raise awareness and quite a bit of cash for and about mental health is a bigger gain to Ron Artest than owning his first championship ring.

Quite a gesture, Ron Ron. Don’t count on Kobe doing that!
