We all know Jurnee Smolett for her career launching role in ‘Eve’s Bayou’ and a bunch of other projects since then! Now another Smolett, Jurnee’s older brother, Jussie Smolett, is taking a break from acting and pursuing his music career!

He tells CarltonJordan.com exclusively, “I wanna be for lesbians what Beyonce is to gay boys. but I am sexual onstage but not overtly. It’s the first album. I’ll rebel I’m sure by album 2″!  Oooooookay! You betta do it!

Jussie recently sat down with Ebony.com to discuss his new music career and clears up the rumor about him fathering Raven Symone’s child.  His mom always told him to “feel completely naked” when performing. Mom knows best so Jussie Smollett doesn’t hold back because “it’s completely and utterly me.”

Get Em Up, the first single from his debut EP, The Poisoned Hearts Club, introduces audiences to why he considers himself “Harlem’s George Michaels.” His sound is a synthesis of pop, R & B and rock. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes too. “The King of Pop is one of my biggest influences. I’ve taken elements from a lot of genres,” says the Los Angeles resident. “My sound feels familiar but completely different. That’s why I call it ‘alienetic’ pop. I feel that as I get older I’ll even do a country album.”

You might recognize his face. He’s the older brother of actress Jurnee Smollett. The Smollett family of two girls and four boys, born of an African-American mom and Jewish dad, grew up in show business. Their auditions of Public Enemy’s Shut Em Down were so impressive the adorable family easily impressed industry heavyweights. In fact, before landing their own short-lived, family TV sitcom, On Our Own, The Cosby Show’s Lisa Bonet helped them tread new territory.

“We ended up being in Lenny Kravitz’s first video, Let Love Rule. It was a great experience. They were so kind to everybody. They are the king and queen of Blewish, Black and Jewish, people. I saw Zoe as a kid. I remembered seeing Lisa Bonet nursing her as a baby,” laughs Jussie, who appeared opposite Halle Berry and Danny Glover as a youngster in the TV mini-series Queen.

This summer expect six solid songs to be fully dropped. Using a play on words, The Poisoned Hearts Club unravels a melodic cautionary tale that “bad things can happen to really cool people. No one is alone in that fact,” he says. “Sometimes anguish, pain or excitement, whatever feeling, happens to everybody. It’s like you join a club. But you might go through bad things but it’s important not to end up jaded or dead inside.”

A few years ago the handsome performer sparked his own headlines with matters of the heart when bloggers set their sites ablaze with rumors that Smollett fathered a child by actress Raven- Symoné. Here goes. Jussie sets the record straight once and for all.

“That is absolutely not true. Do people even really care about this anymore? Raven is my best friend. Obviously she has not had a child. I keep saying this,” he explains. “There are so many things to worry about in the world like child hunger, homelessness and women being abused rather than whether an extremely talented and beautiful actress had a child with her best friend. No and moving on.”
