If the sound of ‘Schweddy Balls’ doesn’t get your stomach growling: I don’t know what will!
The borderline inappropriate title (that puts a smile on my face every time i say it) was inspired by the infamous SNL skit, ‘Delicious Dish’. Watch the video below!
The parody, which spoofs National Public Radio (NPR), stars host Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon. The ladies deliver an entertaining opening, but Alec Baldwin steals the show when he poses as the owner of Season Eating’s Bakery, Pete Schweddy.
Pete makes delicious balls in several flavors, and to the say the least they were a big hit! Alec Baldwin, who is always in character, expressed his joy of the limited edition ice cream in Ben and Jerry’s press release. “Now, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s, the goodness of the Schweddy family recipe won’t go with me to the great beyond. It is immortalized here, right now, and it’s an ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s and Schweddy. Two great names in American dessert, together at last.”
Ben and Jerry also chimed with enthusiasm when commenting on the new flavor and their love for SNL. “We’re such huge fans of SNL, so to connect our product with the show is a lucky treat for us – it’s a chance to celebrate and laugh at ourselves with a specific time to this classic skit. It’s obvious that people get the joke, and since the launch we’ve had only one complaint from someone who didn’t like it.”
ONLY ONE COMPLAINT???? Wow…I guess most people don’t take their sweets that seriously. Will you try the new flavor?
