T.I. IS A “TROUBLED MAN”
0The King of the South T.I. has decided upon a fitting title for his eighth studio album.
Trouble Man, the follow-up to 2010’s No Mercy, was partly inspired by Marvin Gaye’s 1972 song of the same name, he revealed to Billboard.com. In a previous interview withRolling Stone, Tip said he was debating between two titles,Trouble and Kill the King.
He has recorded 45 songs for the project, including the Big K.R.I.T.-assisted “I’m Flexin’” and “Here Ye, Hear Ye” with Pharrell, and is now down to selecting his next single.
One potential cut, “Pyro,” could drop as soon as today. “I have this one record [called] ‘Pyro’ that I’m proud of,” he told Billboard.com’s “The Juice.” “‘Pyro’ is a straight partyrecord. It’s nostalgic of those crazy nights, early mornings [but] just turned up.”
The new album will focus on the past more than the present. “A lot of times I’m taking myself out of my element,” he explained. “This is the first project where I’m talking about things that I’ve experienced before that I’m not necessarily experiencing now ’cause I’m not doing a whole lot of partying. I do a little bit but not a lot, nothing like when I was in that life.”
He has also been in the studio with hitmaker Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, B.o.B), who produced a track reminiscent of Ke$ha’s “Sleazy” boasting dance-pop synths. Tip has already recorded a remix to Ke$ha’s song that has yet to be released.
T.I. may have another hit on his hands. Can’t wait to hear it, what about you?
