Oprah Sits Down With The Houston Family

Bobbi Kristina spoke out for the first time since the untimely death of her mother one month ago in a very awkward interview with Oprah Winfrey. Oprah visited the 19-year-old in Atlanta for a 90-minute special that aired Sunday night on OWN.

During the interview, Bobbi Kristina explained how she’s coping with the loss, her final moments with her mother (“I slept in her arms all day, all night long”), and the misconceptions about the pop icon.

“She’s always with me,” said Kristina, who was named the sole heir to her mother’s estate. “Her spirit is strong, it’s a strong spirit. I feel her pass through me all the time.”

While she’s come to terms with the loss, she still has her moments. “Sometimes, it’s so surreal. I still walk into the house like, ‘Mom?’ But I’ve accepted it.” Kristina plans to follow in her mother’s footsteps. “I’m her daughter, I gotta keep moving. I gotta carry on her legacy,” she told Oprah. “I still have a voice. We’re gonna do the singing thing. We’re gonna do some acting, some dancing.”

Oprah also sat down with Gary Houston, Whitney’s brother, and Patricia Houston, Whitney’s manager and sister-in-law. Pat discussed the days leading up to Whitney’s death including her confrontation with former “X Factor” contestant Stacy Francis, Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, and recalled the tragic day of her passing.

Whitney’s makeup artist and bodyguard found the singer face down in the bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. “She had a peaceful look on her face,” said an emotional Pat. “I saw them cover her up and I knew that that was it.”

In a final touching moment, the Houston family gathered around the piano as Gary performed his sister’s 2009 single “I Look to You” before breaking down in tears.
