Remember back in the day when you had to have actual talent to be a celebrity? Sure you wanted to be Whitney Houston when you were in grade school but by the time you hit junior high you quickly learned that, that path was heavily traveled and often closed off so you thought rationally and decided on being a lawyer, doctor, nurse or teacher and leaving the entertainment to the professionals because somebody has to be a consumer right?
Back in time you had to have quality not quantity. People were not easily fooled by camera tricks, auto tune wasn’t the norm and lip syncing was an absolute no, no; consumer’s often ridiculed those who tried, remember Milli Vanilli? But in today’s society we don’t expect quality or talent for that matter. Entertainer’s have a “take what we give” attitude and the consumer has no complaints. Talent has taken a backseat, leaving nothing behind but a group of talent-less people putting a monkey wrench in the machine for 15 more minutes of undeserved fame and in my humble opinion, that is what is killing the entertainment industry.
