In fact, Gabourey shows off her impressive comedic timing in the new comedy adventure Tower Heist starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy.

Global Grind caught up with Gabby to chat about her Jamaican accent skills in the film, her attempts to move on from her iconic role and her surprising celebrity crush!

It’s been hot as hell lately and Gabby II [the original Gabby is Gabrielle Union] decided to step out in public with this all black silky shiny ensemble…it makes me hot just looking at her!

The “Precious” star was attending an event at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. Other than her looking all humid, it looks like she’s losing weight – or it could be that slimming all black dress she’s wearing!

Meanwhile the host for the night [former 106&Park VJ] “Free” looked cute and relaxed with a simple pair of jeans and T-shirt.

Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe isn’t the only talent in the family. Her mother, Alice Tan Ridley, is a well-known subway performer in New York City with a huge, booming singing voice. And Ridley used her vocal chords to wow the judges on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ To a roar of the crowd, Ridley began Etta James’ ‘At Last,’ prompting a big smile from Howie Mendel.

“Millions of people must have gone back and forth on that subway over 20 years, how come nobody signed you?” Sharon Osbourne questioned.
