The mother of Laurence Fishburne, the actor nominated for an Oscar for his role as Ike Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It, revealed recently she is nearly destitute and her famous son has turned his back on her, according to the New York Daily News.
Hattie Fishburne, an adjunct professor at the College of New Rochelle, NY, said she makes about $600 a month and is six months behind in her rent. “To be Black, female, old and poor is not how I envisioned my life,” she told the newspaper. She said she faces eviction and Fishburne has not responded to her requests for help.
