KELLY CLARKSON’S ALBUM SALES SPIKE POST RON PAUL DEBACLE!

Kelly Clarkson has proven that any publicity is good publicity, after a Twitter endorsement of a Republican Presidential candidate resulted in her album Stronger experiencing a huge spike in sales.

In case you haven’t heard yet, yesterday Kelly tweeted her support for the conservative Presidential candidate Ron paul, which resulted in Kelly receiving a barrage of criticism from her angry followers, leaving the American Idol star to profusely defend herself against claims that she’s aracist and homophobe.

Kelly may have lost a few long-time fans over the drama, but by the next morning sales of Stronger had spiked 192% on Amazon, while the album climbed up to No. 13 on iTunes official albums chart (it’s now #15).

Some celebs will never learn …

Pop star Kelly Clarkson explained adamantly after her endorsement of the Texas congressman was met with many boos and hisses from the peanut gallery, that doesn’t mean she endorses the party line.

“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone,” Clarkson wrote on whosay, responding to the backlash to her “I love Ron Paul!” Facebook post.

“Obviously that was not my intent,” she continued. “I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite.”

GOP Presidential hopeful Ron Paul has recently been accused of racist and homophobic literature stemming from a newsletter he founded years ago. But that didn’t stop ole Miss American pie eating, American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson from tweeting her full support of the candidate!

“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

Of course her tweets were met with a huge backlash from her more educated followers:

In a classy new interview with my favorite radio personality Howard Stern earlier this week the subject of Idol’s original star Kelly Clarkson was brought up – in particular her career, and how its fared ever since she started trying to take more creative control over her music. Needless to say, Simon had some interesting thoughts on the subject.

Kelly Clarkson dropped her new single, “Mr. Know It All,” on her website this week. It’s the first track off her Stronger album, due in October.

The song is an obvious Clarkson joint: feisty and straightforward, with a strong melody and a sing-along chorus. The midtempo breakup tune is about a girl letting her guy know that despite thinking he’s got it all figured out, he doesn’t.
