Madonna might not have been the most obvious choice to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, but she turned out to be a wise one.
According to numbers released by NBC Sports on Monday, Madonna’s performance was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show featuring entertainment on record — and actually edged out the game’s averages in both ratings and total viewers.
Madonna may have put on a show-stopping performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, but it was M.I.A. who stole the spotlight with one single gesture. The “Paper Planes” hitmaker flipped the bird while performing with the pop queen, causing the NFL and NBC to issue apologies.
The controversial incident occurred during the debut performance of Madonna’s new single “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” Cameras cut to M.I.A., who threw up the middle finger and rapped a barely disguised expletive (“I don’t give a shi—”). NBC censors briefly blurred the screen, but they were late by less than a second.
Coming out looking like Akasha from Queen of the Damned, Madonna killed it!
This show was visually everything I hoped it would be – and the songs Madonna chose were on point. I mean she almost fell on the bleacher’s singing ‘Music’ but hey, nobody’s perfect.

In keeping with their speedo clad Tonight Show performance last week, the Mickey Finnegan-directed clip features the electro-dance duo engaged in a dance-off/strip-off somewhat similiar to the one between Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in Zoolander, but with much less clothing.
