Update: Apparently this was an April Fool’s joke sent out by the Global Grind crew.  Fuck you Russell Simmons!

He’d be better off making Diggy the President of the label. I don’t think Uncle Russ has his ear-to-the-streets!

It has been reported that earlier this week, Russell Simmons made a deal with Def Jam Recordings to return to the label as the President/CEO after the departure of LA Reid.

Def Jam in 1984 with Rick Rubin and went on to release classic albums from Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Jay-Z and many more.  He sold Def Jam to Universal in 1999, and since has not been involved in the day-to-day operations.
