Before Christmas, Nelly Furtado shared some footage from her recording sessions with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
Now the singer hits the studio with Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas) to record the follow-up to her multi-platinum English album Loose, due next summer. “It has a real classic sound to it, a sound that’s really authentic, super soulful,” says Nelly.

The late Amy Winehouse fulfilled a dream when presented with the opportunity to collaborates with Nas on the new track, “Like Smoke” — the lead single from her upcoming album titled, Lioness: Hidden Treasures.
The new Amy album will feature 12 unreleased songs, with some standing as alternate versions of her past classics.
Lioness is scheduled for release on December 5th and I’m buying three copies. For now, listen to the Salaam Remi-produced, “Like Smoke” below.

Drake has got some friends in high places.
According to MTV.com during this weekend’s OVO Music Festival in Toronto, Canada, the Young Money spitter brought Lil Wayne, Nas, J. Cole, Rick Ross, The Weeknd and 22-time Grammy winner Stevie Wonder to rock in his hometown. After the show, Drizzy Drake confirmed to MuchMusic that Wonder will be appearing on his upcoming Take Care album.
The news came on the same day that the rapper released the LP’s first official single “Headlines.”
Raekwon is coming hard with that real hip hop in Rich & Black f/ Nas.

Check out Common’s brand new single with Nas, “Ghetto Dreams.” The track is produced by the legendary NO. I.D. and will be made available on iTunes next week.
The track is lifted from Common’s upcoming ninth studio album, The Dreamer, The Believer. This is will be Common’s latest release since 2008′s Universal Mind Control. No word on when the album will drop, but it’s looking like a fall release.
Nas has one his first award … an Emmy?
Nas recently won a National Sports Emmy for his ESPN documentary, “Survival 1.” The film documents the real struggle after-math of the Liberian civil war — which has been going for over two decades and finally ended in ’03 — as it follows two amputee victims, Richard and Joseph, who forms a Liberian Amputee Soccer Team and score ultimate victory, becoming champions.
