Queen Latifah, or Ms. Dana Owens, has a new attitude with a new wardrobe to match. The 41 year old singer and actress not only continues to celebrate her recent clothing line, she also discusses plans to launch her new talk show in the January 2012 issue of ESSENCE Magazine.

In the issue, Latifah openly speaks to the discrimination of manufacturers against curvaceous women and her decision to make a difference. “A lot of manufacturers don’t respect the curvaceous woman. They don’t respect our dollar or our shape.” Luckily the Home Shopping Network provided a positive partnership where Latifah could creatively express her ideas regarding the market for plus size women, not to mention the line is doing extremely well with the shopping channel.

ALICIA KEYS HOSTS 8TH ANNUAL BLACK BALL!

Alicia Keys was the queen of the night at the 8th Annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Thursday evening (Nov. 3).

The Grammy-winning songstress, who co-founded the non-profit organization, shimmered in a gold top, cream-colored blazer, and goldpointy-toe heels as she posed with her husband Swizz Beatz, who looked sharp in an all-black tux. The annual event benefits children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in India and Africa.

STACEY DASH WILL NOT RETURN TO ‘SINGLE LADIES’!

Queen Latifah is the latest celebrity to launch a clothing line with HSN and she wants you to know that it’s not a plus- size line!

While promoting her new clothing line with HSN, Latifah said “[plus –size] is a word we need to bury at this point” noting that her new line will be for all sizes. “The truth is, we all would like to wear the same clothes. We all want to wear beautiful, fly clothes no matter what size you are, and so for me it was important to match with a company that understood and respected that ideal.”

I spotted Queen Latifah featured on the cover of Upscale Magazine’s May/June Issue over at my girl Necole Bitchie’s website. And at first I thought it was a cute interview…and then the more i read into it, the more annoyed I got so I had to do my own post….

Last night American Idol featured a special 2-hour charity performance event from American Idol season 9. It was also the latest American Idol elimination. The episode only included some of the featured performers due to the problems with the Volcano in Iceland and delayed flights across Europe. Among the Idol Gives back performers were Carrie Underwood, Jeff Beck, Black Eyed Peas and Joss Stone. The special was hosted by Queen Latifah and Elton John.
